Tate Modern "Street Art" Graffiti Exhibition (2008)

Project Background

The London Tate Modern approached Graffiti Busters in August 2007 requesting some information on our services, especially our unique anti graffiti protective coating system. In November last year we attended a management meeting and where appointed out of five companies tendering for the works, based on previous projects, references and excellent quality of workmanship.


Demonstrations where carried out before any works commenced. During this period the client ( Tate Modern ) opted for a clear sacrificial coating. Shortly after the success of these tests we began applying the coating to lower level brickwork surfaces first.

On the 9th of April 2008 we started with the high level works by making use of low pressure sprayers and hydraulic lift equipment. We had two teams consisting of technicians and two supervisors assisting from the ground. 1095 square meters of high level brickwork was treated in only three days.

Artists were asked to apply their street art shortly after and the exhibition will be on display until the end of August 2008.

The removal process will start on Monday the 25th of August 2008. Graffiti works will be removed by making use of hot pressure washing equipment. With two teams consisting of three operatives and a project manager on site we estimate to remove all the existing artwork in five days.

Update: All the Graffiti Art was successfully removed by Graffiti Busters Ltd. as planned.
